WebJun 16, 2010 · After further inspection I noticed that the sound was coming from the Cam Position Sensor (the sensor right in front of the oil filter on the left side of the engine). I can actually put my hand on the sensor and feel a physical tapping coming from it. It gets stronger/louder when the engine revs and seems to subside above 2000rpm.
